M.I.E.T. Polytechnic College was established in 1984 under the visionary leadership of Alhaj Er. A. Mohamed Yunus, in response to the Tamil Nadu Government's initiative to reduce student migration to neighboring states by promoting self-financing professional institutions. Approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu (G.O. Ms. No. 1778 dated 12.11.1984), the college began its academic journey with three core engineering disciplines: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical & Electronics, with a sanctioned intake of 180 students.
Guided by the mission to uplift educationally backward communities, M.I.E.T. has evolved into a beacon of quality technical education. Over the years, the college has expanded its academic portfolio, with the AICTE granting approval for the addition of Computer Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering in 1993, increasing the total intake capacity to 240 students.
In 2014, M.I.E.T. became the only self-financing institution in the region to introduce part-time diploma courses in Civil and Mechanical Engineering, offering opportunities to working professionals. With over 40 years of academic excellence, M.I.E.T. Polytechnic College continues to deliver a balanced education rooted in values, technical skill, and real-world application.
The institution stands tall with its consistent accreditations, experienced faculty, industry-aligned curriculum, and a holistic approach to education that fosters innovation, discipline, and community development. M.I.E.T. remains steadfast in its mission to inspire and empower generations of students to become competent professionals and responsible citizens, echoing its timeless motto:
